Uncalibrated three-view image rectification
نویسنده
چکیده
Image rectification is a process of transforming a set of images into a new set such that the epipolar lines in the transformed images have the same direction as the image rows or columns to enable an efficient and reliable stereo matching. Previous algorithms for stereo image rectification either work for two view uncalibrated or two/three view calibrated situations. In this paper we propose several novel techniques to rectify uncalibrated trinocular images using the trilinear tensor or projective invariants or fundamental matrices obtained from a triplet of images. Our new methods include: a rotation and skew method, an affine transformation method, and a vanishing points method. Real images have been used for testing purposes, and accurate results have been obtained. q 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Reconstruction of Surfaces of Revolution from Single Uncalibrated Views
This paper addresses the problem of recovering the 3D shape of a surface of revolution from a single uncalibrated perspective view. The algorithm introduced here makes use of the invariant properties of a surface of revolution and its silhouette to locate the image of the revolution axis, and to calibrate the focal length of the camera. The image is then normalized and rectified such that the r...
متن کاملTrinocular Rectification for Various Camera Setups
Convergent stereo images can be rectified such that they correspond to the stereo normal case. The important advantage is that the correspondence analysis is simplified to a linear search along one of the image axes. The proposed method describes a rectification method for three uncalibrated cameras, where the configuration is not generally known. The algorithm automatically determines the best...
متن کاملShape reconstruction and texture sampling by active rectification and virtual view synthesis
In this paper it is shown how to obtain a three-dimensional, textured object model by relying exclusively on image warping 2D-2D transformations. To achieve this goal, a dual (laser and natural light) illumination of the scene is exploited. Shape reconstruction is not based on triangulation, but on the planar rectification and collation of laser profiles. Texture sampling uses laser profile war...
متن کاملStereo rectification of uncalibrated and heterogeneous images
In this paper, an algorithm for rectifying heterogeneous and uncalibrated pairs of stereo images is presented. In particular, a pair of images is captured by using a combination of static and dynamic cameras at unequal zoom, thus having different focal lengths and/or image resolutions. The rectification of such pairs of images is made in two steps. In the first step, image shrinking based on fo...
متن کاملRobust uncalibrated stereo rectification with constrained geometric distortions (USR-CGD)
A novel algorithm for uncalibrated stereo imagepair rectification under the constraint of geometric distortion, called USR-CGD, is presented in this work. Although it is straightforward to define a rectifying transformation (or homography) given the epipolar geometry, many existing algorithms have unwanted geometric distortions as a side effect. To obtain rectified images with reduced geometric...
